Jan Rouven -

The Man with Nine Lives

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe once said: "The highest goal man can achieve is astonishment."

There is hardly anything that fits this quotation better than the fascination of illusion. The secrecy, the inexplicability has always had an immense appeal on humankind. For more than 2000 years Illusion has been a well-known art form and therefore is considered as one of the oldest varieties of entertainment.

Jan Rouven is dedicated to this art form and has set new standards with his monumental illusions which are unique worldwide. He presents spectacular Illusions in a modern package, creating an intense atmosphere. Burning circular saws are racing towards the cuffed and chained illusionist at break-neck speed, an authentic turbine taken out of a jet airplane sucks him into the running rotor, a seven meter mine drill visibly drills through his torso – his tendency towards highly dangerous acts also gave him the nickname "The Man with Nine Lives".

His most prominent friend is Siegfried Fischbacher, the blonde half of the duo Siegfried & Roy who were awarded with the title "Magicians of the Century". Siegfried himself is so impressed by the young illusionist´s talent that Jan Rouven is allowed to exclusively use some original props of the mega magicians in his show.

Within the 10 years of his career he has performed to audiences of up to 20,000 people, more than 3 million spectators have seen him live and approximately 55 million people have been able to view his TV appearances. He has been awarded some of the most important international awards of the entertainment industry such as the "Magician of the Year" following David Copperfield and Siegfried & Roy, the "Audience Award Monte Carlo Magic Stars" presented by Princess Stephanie of Monaco and the "Entertainer of the Year" elected by more than 37,000 members of the – according to the Guinness book of world records – biggest magic society worldwide. Jan Rouven is Germany´s most successful illusionist and ranks among the world´s elite magicians.

Not only stars, as the Formula-1 pilots Juan Pablo Montoya and Lewis Hamilton trusted his talent to turn their performances into highly acclaimed success. Jan Rouven also presented illusions with local stars in big TV productions in France, Croatia, Switzerland and the Netherlands. He is a permanent guest on French TV at the successful Saturday night show "Le Plus Grand Cabaret du Monde", his TV specials reach an audience of millions in France and Japan.

Today Jan Rouven is among the most popular illusionists worldwide and his acts are without question the most dangerous, spectacular and biggest illusions of our time."It´s very important to me that an authentic part of myself can be seen" Jan Rouven comments, "Because an illusion show always has to be a personality show as well. Otherwise the audience won´t buy your performance."

For years Jan Rouven has been evolving his style, testing, designing, adding and omitting. By doing so he has found his very own style which turns an illusion show into an authentic Jan Rouven event. His experience in many styles has aided him in decerning stylistically for or against elements and ideas. The result is a dynamic, lively appearance which is as authentic as unique. It thrills both industry experts and audiences worldwide.
