Otherwise the audience won´t buy your performance.’’ For years Jan Rouven has been evolving his style, testing, designing, adding and omitting. By doing so he has found his very own style which turns an illusion show into an authentic Jan Rouven event. His experience in many styles has aided him in decerning stylistically for or against elements and ideas. The result is a dynamic, lively appearance which is as authentic as unique. It thrills both industry experts and audiences worldwide.
The music also is totally different to most magic productions: Jan Rouven´s soundtrack is an exciting mixture of dynamic orchestral pieces of soundtracks from action movies as well as modern rock and pop. Mostly it´s Jan Rouven´s personal taste that is the deciding factor in the final decision: you can hear classical film music as well as modern tunes from Pink, from eloquent pop to The Killers. His show music is not only the determining medium for the atmosphere but it also reflects the stories that are told in some illusions.
The show is completed by the marvellous stage assistants. Jan Rouven often considers his selection criteria as strict. But: “I would never expect somebody to do something if I couldn´t put up with it myself.’’ Jan Rouven says. “Everybody has to give his best during the shows. The audience should get the best performance possible.” In order to guarantee that the perfectionist magician only engages well-trained assistants, he employs dancers with many years of stage experience that are trained actors and acrobats as well. The stage assistants aren´t the uniform dressed dancers of well-known magic shows but they have their own character, their own personality, which add that certain something to the acts and choreographies. Of course the leading ladies are always– aside from professionalism and competence – a visible highlight as well.
